Diamond tools production
Since 1960 La Nord Srl has specialized in the production of diamond tools for various applications. Unlike many national and international brands, we do not limit ourselves to the mere assembly of segments and body. For over 60 years we have selected high-quality diamond grits and metal powders, creating ad hoc formulas for each application.
Diamond Tools: Diamond Segments Production
It all starts with the production of sintered diamond segments . These small parallelepipeds visible on the external circumference of the tool are the main part that performs the abrasion work. The diamond tool manufacturer begins its manufacturing from formulas studied specifically and changed over the years with experience. These formulas contain the design of the segment, the concentration and mix of diamond grits and the percentages of metal powders.
Diamond Tool Manufacturers: Sintering
After the mixing phase, the components inside are cold pressed using automatic machines. In fact, cold pressing guarantees the right weight of each segment, the shape and the layering of multiple layouts.
The heart of the production of diamond tools and in particular of diamond segments is sintering. In this phase, the cold-pressed segments are further pressed and brought to high temperatures (up to 950/980 degrees). At a certain pressure, temperature and minute, sintering occurs. This process for metallurgy is understood as the densification of a powder compact with a reduction of the initial porosity.
Diamond segments therefore have different shapes and are suitable for different applications. Nord produces diamond segments for the following applications: cutting, coring, grinding, dressing, smoothing and polishing of different building materials.
The formula and its process make the diamond segment able to work on specific building materials such as:
- granites, marbles and natural stones.
- concrete, reinforced, fresh, seasoned.
- ceramics and porcelain stoneware
- asphalt
- refractory materials
- glass fibres and glass resins
- agglomerates and prefabricated
Production of discs, drills, grinding wheels and diamond wire.
The processes that follow this phase are fundamental for the enhancement of the diamond product. After the quality control of each diamond segment produced, the assembly phase to the metal body takes place.
Brazing or Laser welding are two different processes for the same purpose. Assembling with minimum tolerances the segments or diamond beads on its metal support.

The last steps that guarantee an excellent quality of the product are quality control and grinding. This last process guarantees the flatness and balance of the tool.
