Diamond tool production
Since 1960, La Nord Srl has specialized in the production of diamond tools for a variety of applications. Unlike many national and international brands, we don't limit ourselves to simply assembling segments and bodies. For over 60 years, we have been selecting high-quality diamond grits and metal powders, creating customized formulas for every application.
Diamond tools: diamond segment production
It all starts with the production of sintered diamond segments . These small parallelepipeds visible on the outer circumference of the tool are the main part that performs the abrasion work. The diamond tool manufacturer begins its production with specially developed formulas that have evolved over the years with experience. These formulas specify the segment design, the concentration and mix of diamond grits, and the percentages of metal powders.
Sintering of diamond segments
After the mixing phase, the internal components are cold-pressed using automatic machines. Cold-pressing ensures the correct weight for each segment, shape, and layering for multiple layouts.
The core of diamond tool production, and particularly diamond segments, is sintering. In this phase, the cold-pressed segments are further compressed and heated to high temperatures (up to 950/980 degrees Celsius). Sintering occurs at a specific pressure, temperature, and time. In metallurgy, this process is understood as the densification of a powder compact, reducing its initial porosity.
Producing high-quality segments is essential for the production of diamond tools. Diamond segments therefore come in various shapes and are suitable for different applications. Nord produces diamond segments for the following applications: cutting, coring, grinding, dressing, sanding, and polishing of various construction materials.
The formula and its process make the diamond segment capable of working on specific building materials such as:

The processes that follow this phase are crucial to the diamond product's value. After quality control of each diamond segment produced, the assembly phase takes place.
Brazing and laser welding are two different processes that serve the same purpose: assembling diamond segments or beads onto their metal support with minimal tolerances.
