What are the degrees of customization of diamond drill bits?
Internal production allows you to obtain different degrees of customization of your diamond core bit. Our top products ideal for drilling reinforced concrete structures have diameters from Ø28mm to Ø400mm with body height: 450mm and 1”1/4 connection ideal for all commercially available core drills. However, it is possible to customize these products according to the following characteristics:
Diamond drill bits for granite, asphalt, refractory materials, porcelain stoneware.
Although it may seem obvious to point it out, the first level of customization is the material you want to drill. The classic universal diamond crowns are suitable for cutting bricks and other soft building materials . However, without necessarily additional costs, it is possible to have diamond core bits specific to the material. This possibility depends exclusively on the type of diamond segment that is welded onto the crown. In fact, Nord srl produces diamond segments specific for abrasive materials such as asphalt, hard materials such as stoneware pipes, and difficult materials such as stone and granite.

Another important level of customization is in the diameter of the tool. At our production site we can produce specific and non-standard diameters. From very small diameters Ø6, Ø8mm to XXL diameters: Ø1600, Ø2000mm. This type of product, which for the commercial market is non-standard, for us are products commonly used by companies specialized in the consolidation of infrastructures, bridges, dams etc. Or from manufacturers of reinforced concrete products.
Another fundamental aspect is the customization of the internal diameter of the coring. This possibility is fundamental for marble workers which use the diamond crown to make vases and other furnishings, and for cement or asphalt analysis companies which carry out core drilling.
Production of customized diamond crowns in body height and attachment.
The last, but not least, level of customization lies in the type of attachment and the height of the diamond crown.
As regards the attachment, we have already mentioned the standard 1”1/4 UNC, but it is possible to produce customised tools with 1/2gas, SDS Plus, SDS Max, M16, M14, Teksam etc. attachments.
By using adapters and extensions it is also possible to mount our diamond drill bits on Hilti, Tyrolit, Husqvanra core drills etc.
• Custom cutting depth for your diamond crown
A further and very important possibility of customization is in the height of the body of your diamond crown. This possibility allows you to have diamond crowns with H up to 2000mm for very deep coring. It goes without saying that in the case of coring beyond H1500mm it is preferable to use continuous coring solutions.
Case History: Production of XXXL diamond drill bit to design.
For a major manufacturer of reinforced concrete products in the province of Bergamo, we produce diamond crowns to customer design every year.
Prestressed reinforced concrete wells for large infrastructures require holes for the passage of systems or inspection accesses. In many cases these passages are customized for the needs of the construction site.
In May 2023, Nord srl produced a Ø2200mm H400mm diamond crown with a customized attachment for a column cutter specifically for carrying out these jobs.
Given the size of the tool, we produced the steel body with a thickness above average to avoid sheet metal inclinations. At the same time, we produced diamond segments for coring reinforced concrete with a thickness necessary to guarantee a tool life in accordance with the requirements. The welding carried out at our plant took only 20 minutes thanks to the experience of our specialized welders.
