Why use diamond blades?
Diamond blades and diamond tools are a popular choice across all industries in Italy. The cutting efficiency and durability of diamond blades make them the best solution for cutting a variety of building materials today. Read on to learn how diamond blades are the best return on investment.
Types of diamond discs
When you have to choose the type of diamond blade, there are two key factors to consider: the type of blade and its formulation. The. By type of blade we mean more its shape, while by formulation we mean the composition of the diamond crown itself.
On the market you can usually find three main types of diamond discs:
- With segmented crown. They can be used wet or dry and are excellent for cutting concrete, reinforced concrete, bricks and masonry.
- Continuous turbo crown. Both dry and wet, they are diamond discs with excellent speed performance. Their very fine thickness allows you to cut concrete, granite, sandstone and porcelain stoneware tiles.
- Continuous crown (rim). It is a diamond disc that is certainly slower than the previous one but with an excellent cutting quality. The most famous versions are those for the wet cutting of ceramic or porcelain stoneware tiles
The second fundamental factor is the formulation, that is, which tool to use and for what purpose. The diamond part is composed of diamond grains and metal binders.
- Hard diamond discs . The formulation contains metal binders capable of resisting particularly abrasive materials such as asphalt.
- Soft diamond discs . In this case the formulation is composed of soft metals to be able to cut materials with a low degree of abrasion such as marble and porcelain stoneware
Application of diamond blades
Diamond blades have various applications in many industries:
- Civil construction > discover the products for construction
- Marble Industry > discover the products for marble workers
- Laying > discover the products for installers
- Excavations and demolitions > discover the products for asphalt or reinforced concrete
- Refractory industry
- Cement industry
- Hydraulics > discover our range of dry diamond core bits
- Shipbuilding Industry
- Geological explorations > discover wet diamond crowns
Some diamond discs are produced for general use, others are specific. Those specific for individual materials are ideal for prolonged use on the same type of product. Since 1960, Nord srl has been producing diamond discs and tools in Italy with ad hoc formulations for cutting or treating unique and innovative materials such as fiberglass or hard rubber.
Maintaining your diamond blade
Choosing the right diamond blade for the material you need to cut is very important. If you use the right diamond tool you will have excellent results in terms of durability and clean cutting. Always remember to check the following aspects before use:
- Use all necessary PPE
- Place the diamond disc in the correct direction of rotation
- Let it cool between cuts.
- Use water if possible (extends tool life and cutting quality)
- Revive your disc by cutting a small block of refractory material > how to revive your disc?
