Asphalt cutter disc: how to use it.

The asphalt cutting blade is significantly different from any other blade on the market. Cutting asphalt is significantly different from cutting concrete and cement.

While hard materials like granite and some types of concrete require hard diamond blades, materials like asphalt necessarily require a very hard product.

This is because the abrasion of the asphalt tends to consume the metal matrix very quickly and therefore causes the diamond part to come out very quickly.

It is no coincidence that diamond blades for asphalt are typically hard, composed of cobalts, carbides and heavy raw materials.

Cleaning and preparation for cutting with asphalt cutting disc.

Preparing the cutting surface is essential. An asphalt cutting blade requires a cutting surface free of debris and obstacles. For this reason, it's advisable to wet and sweep the cutting surface.

The presence of debris could cause damage to the blade or even to your asphalt cutter.

Marking for the asphalt cutting machine.

  • Another crucial step is marking out the area for your asphalt cutter. These machines are generally used when there's a need to patch up an area, or to excavate for the installation of hydraulic or electrical components.
  • Mark the area with chalk and then use a screwdriver and hammer to make an incision.
  • Here's a helpful tip for patching asphalt. Before using your asphalt cutter, mark the outermost area you need to patch. This will allow you to get a job done right without wasting material.

Choosing the right diamond blade for asphalt cutting.

As mentioned, it's essential to choose a hard asphalt cutting blade. Don't rely on universal or concrete blades, especially if you need to cut many meters. This is because universal blades are very soft and you risk wearing out your blade after 80 linear meters of cutting.

Buy specific diamond blades for asphalt with hard segments (dark gray segment color) and with coarse-grained diamond.

Our ASF is undoubtedly one of the best performing products on the market. Fast cutting and exceptional durability are essential features for a professional. Anyone who uses an asphalt cutter on a daily basis knows what we're talking about. This product can also be used in trios for digging nano-trenches for fiber optic installation.

From tests carried out with expert operators we can affirm that it has a high average of linear meters cut (1000 / 1200 ml.)

Our ASECO, on the other hand, is an ideal solution for occasional cutting with high performance. Compared to our ASF, it has a softer diamond segment, so while it maintains the same cutting quality and speed, it drops dramatically with ml (350/400 ml).

PS: A small aside: commercially available diamond blades for cutting asphalt average 150/200 mm of cut. Both ASF and ASECO are excellent alternatives.

Cutting with asphalt cutting disc

The long-awaited moment has arrived: cutting with the asphalt blade. Knowing the cutting depth is essential for choosing the blade and angling the machine. Another crucial step is understanding what's underneath the asphalt surface. We hope you won't be cutting into pipes, electrical systems, or other utilities.

While cutting, do not apply pressure to the machine. If the asphalt cutting blade is performing well, it will cut by itself and you do not need to make too much effort for nothing.

If you need to make a patch, finish the straight cuts, exit the cut, and start a new one. Avoid making cuts with sharp curves. This is very damaging to the blade and the asphalt cutter shaft.
