How to choose the best performing diamond crowns.
Diamond core bits can be a small but very important part of your construction or demolition project . That's why high quality diamond core bits can make the difference between a happy customer or a bad rental.
Where to find diamond crowns
High quality diamond core bits are often rented together with the core drill from specialized dealers. In fact, diamond core bits are mostly used by builders, plumbers, tilers, installers to drill walls, floors, ceilings and roads. They can be a small part of your project but at the same time they can significantly change the satisfaction of your customer.
The choice of the core drill and the diamond drill bit is the basis
Most diamond core drills have an electric motor, but some are hydraulic. Some core drills are manual, others are equipped with a vertical track that allows the operator to better manage the lowering of the diamond crowns.
Safety is a priority when choosing your core drill. Make sure it meets the highest European safety standards. Most core drills will need water and electricity to operate. This mix could be very dangerous when you start drilling with diamond core bits.
Diamond crowns: which core drill?
As we have seen, there are several types of core drills on the market. Our heartfelt advice is aimed at those who do not know which type to rent and/or buy.
First of all, keep in mind carefully what diameter you need to make with your diamond core bit. If you need to make holes over 70mm, we recommend wet core drills with a support rail.
Our second piece of advice concerns the material you need to drill. Dry diamond core bits are functional on very soft materials: bricks, concrete, etc. When you need to cut reinforced concrete, stone, we recommend using wet diamond core bits .
Another fundamental element concerns the number of holes you need to make. If you need to make multiple holes, it is advisable to purchase or rent diamond core drills equipped with a vacuum system. In fact, track core drills need to be anchored to the surface that needs to be drilled. This is essential to give stability to the work with your diamond core drills. In the case of multiple holes, however, the vacuum fixing system is advisable. With this little trick, you will save a lot of time.
Diamond Drill Bit: How to Determine ROI?
It may seem unusual to talk about ROI and diamond core bits. However, we know that the first objective for those who carry out reinforced concrete core drilling work is the return on investment or the cost per ml of cutting.
For this reason it is essential to have an excellent core drilling machine but at the same time a high-performance diamond crown. Installation times, cutting speed and tool life can make the difference between a successful job or an unexpected disaster.
How long do diamond drill bits last?
Quality diamond core bits guarantee an above average life: about 5ml of wet core drilling with diamond core bits on reinforced concrete up to Ø120mm. The cutting average drops with diamond core bits above this diameter.
