COME SI FA IL CAROTAGGIO DEL CEMENTO?

What is concrete coring?

Coring is an action that allows you to make through and non-through holes on concrete surfaces. This practice is essential in many construction and private projects . Thanks to concrete coring it is possible to install boiler pipes or hydraulic systems.

The coring technique is also performed in the industrial field. Think of reinforced concrete wells or large stoneware pipes. In fact, there are multiple techniques that determine the specifics of the work.

Dry or wet concrete coring.

Coring can be done with or without water. It is advisable to use dry core drills when the hole diameters do not exceed 200mm and the depth 200mm. The use of water is essential for holes with a depth of 300mm and above. This is because water allows for greater lubrication of the tool used and prevents it from overheating.

Coring: core drill and diamond drill bits.

The diamond core bit is a hollow cylindrical tip that is used to drill surfaces. Its body is made of steel while the end in contact with the material is made of diamond. A core drill instead is composed of a motor, a double handle and an attachment for diamond core bits. The classic attachment for the dry core drill is M16, while for a wet core drill it is 1″1/4 (UNC).

The main difference between a core drill and a drill is the power and use therefore the use of diamond core bits. The core drill will allow the extraction of the drilled material. The extracted “core” is a cylinder with the same internal dimensions of the diamond core bit.

A core drill can cut and drill different materials such as concrete, asphalt, granite, agglomerates etc. For this reason it is essential to have diamond drill bits specifically for the necessary material.

Another very important variable to consider is the power of the core drill. Reinforced concrete core drilling requires more power than hollow brick. For this reason, we recommend always asking the professional or the rental company which machine is best for you.

Concrete Coring: How Does It Work?

Concrete coring is done only after a preliminary scan. This scan allows to analyze the structural quality of the concrete. The scanner also identifies if there are possible obstacles or materials that should not be drilled. This activity ensures that everything is done with maximum safety.

If you are using a manual core drill, simply turn on the machine and proceed with the hole. In the case of powerful and stationary machines, you will need to secure the appropriate stand to the surface.

Once the machine is turned on, the diamond drill bit will start to rotate and abrade the surface underneath.

We strongly recommend that you have the drill bit cut. Do not force the cut with the pressure of your arm. Too much pressure could cause the diamond to round off and cause additional strain during the cutting process.

Once you have reached the desired depth, remove the “carrot from the drill bit” and dispose of it according to the instructions.

Diamond core bit for core drilling machine.

The type of core drill is crucial for power and application. Go to a rental company or a construction equipment warehouse. The experts will advise you on which type is best suited to your needs.

Diamond core bits are really essential. In fact, it is the tool itself that does the work. The quality of the diamond segment for coring can make the difference. Only high-quality products allow you to save time with the maximum possible safety.
