How to cut reinforced concrete?
Cutting Reinforced Concrete is often a difficult job, however with professional machinery and diamond tools everything becomes easier. The hardening time of the concrete greatly influences the way in which the concrete blades interact with it. Weather conditions and the compositions of the raw material itself can significantly affect the hardness of this material. For this reason, our product range consists of a specific blade for each type of material:
- Disc for Cured Concrete
- Disc for Fresh Concrete
- Disc for Reinforced Concrete
It is therefore essential, in the case of professional cutting with joint cutters and wall cutters, to choose the diamond blade suited to the material that needs to be cut.
Be careful with the attachment!! Many machines for cutting reinforced concrete have special attachments. For example, Husqvarna and Hilti machines have special and exclusive attachments. For this reason, it is necessary to check that the diamond blade for concrete can be mounted on the machine you own. Our tools for cutting reinforced concrete are produced with customizable holes on every type of machine on the market.
As for flexible blades for reinforced concrete, it is preferable to use a tool with diamond sectors and a thick steel core. The Cantero Laser is an excellent compromise for cutting reinforced concrete in terms of price, duration and cutting speed. In the Ø230 mm version, the cutting thickness is 3.2 mm which ensures considerable cutting stability compared to all turbo diamond blades on the market.
Dry or wet cutting? Laser-welded diamond blades guarantee high performance even when used dry. However, in the case of professional cutting of reinforced concrete and in the case of controlled demolition, it is recommended to cut wet. Water guarantees a longer life for the tool, a reduction in dust during the cutting phase and a better cutting quality.
What to do and what not to do? There are 4 key steps to keep in mind.
• Never force the diamond blade during the cutting phase. The diamond blade itself will do the cutting for you.
• If you cut dry (without using water) always remember to let the disc rest with empty passes of at least 30 seconds. This helps the disc to cool down and prevent unpleasant overheating
• Whenever you cut reinforced concrete, whether fresh or cured, be sure to wear respiratory, hearing and vision protection.
